Description

Historic royal square

Meaning "Little Side," the Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana) is found on the slopes of the Prague Castle, on the bank of the Vltava River. Near Old Town, a trip to Lesser Quarter is accessible via the Charles Bridge, and offers a historic perspective on the city.

During the Middle Ages, the Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana) was a dominant center in the city, particularly for German citizens of Prague. There were several residences for nobility here, bringing a high influence of baroque palaces and Renaissance architecture.
