Description

The historical significance and artistic value of Vyšehrad Cemetery draws many people to visit and reflect upon the graves of some of the Czech Republic's most famous figures. Notable among these is Antonín Dvořák, composer of the New World Symphony, and Bedřich Smetana, composer of the cycle of symphonic poems Má Vlast. Also buried there is Alfons Mucha, known for his distinctive art nouveau style. Dvořák's grave is particularly notable for the sculpture created in his honor by Ladislav Šaloun, the same artist who crafted the Jan Hus monument located in Old Town Square.
